John Baker

John Baker

When John took his first sweep with an oar in a dinghy at age seven, he knew he was destined to spend most of his life on or around the water. Starting as a processor of Alaskan King crab at age 18, John sailed in nearly every capacity ending up in the wheelhouse as a Bering Sea crab boat captain by age thirty. From there, his job took him to world seaports in Russia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Greenland and Denmark. John has also captained private yachts and continues to be a trainer and educator about boating operations and safety so his customers can enjoy boating to its fullest. John co-founded Waypoint Marine with his fellow fishing captain, competitor and friend, Buck Fowler, to provide a friendly, knowledgeable company that Northwest boaters could trust and come to for all their boating needs. To John, boating is more than a business. When not at work, there's a good chance you'll find him with family, friends or customers, where else, but, out on the water!

Buck Fowler

Buck Fowler

Born into a US Navy family, Buck started his life on and around the water. Pursuit of an education in Fisheries Biology brought him to the University of Washington and the pursuit of adventure took him from there into the Alaska commercial fishing business. From a deckhand / engineer beginning he earned his first Captain job at the age of 23 and later purchased his first fishing boat at the age of 27. The subsequent 28 years of fishing involved ventures in Alaska, Russia, Greenland and Brazil. Seven years ago Buck co-founded Waypoint Marine with the hopes of creating a 100% customer oriented yacht repair and management company. Today, boating with family, friends and customers has become the new normal.
